STAYLOG

Privacy Policy

Privacy policy

Last revised: 28 September 2026

Barrel Connect, Inc. (“we”) sets out below how information about visitors is handled on STAYLOG (“this site”), which we operate.

1. What we collect

Reading this site requires no account and no sign-in. There is no feature that asks you to enter a name, an address or a telephone number.

Only if you write to us do we receive your email address and the content of your message. We use them to reply and, where needed, to correct what is published. We do not use them for anything else and do not pass them to third parties.

2. Cookies

To understand how the site is used and to improve it, we run an analytics tool through Google Tag Manager, provided by Google LLC. It uses cookies to record which pages were viewed, how long for, where the visit came from, a rough location and the kind of device. Nothing collected identifies you directly, such as a name or an email address.

If you are in the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, none of this runs until you agree. Analytics and advertising cookies are set to denied by default for those regions, and a banner asks you first. Your answer is kept in your own browser and never sent to us. You can change it by clearing this site’s storage in your browser.

What Google collects is handled under Google’s own policy. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can also switch off collection by Google Analytics with the opt-out add-on.

Separately, if you follow a link from this site to a booking site, that site or an advertising partner may set cookies of its own to measure the referral. Those cookies are not issued or controlled by us, and what they collect is governed by each company’s privacy policy. Affiliate links are marked “Ad”; see our affiliate disclosure for more.

3. Advertising

We may use Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service from Google LLC. Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to serve advertisements based on a user’s previous visits to this and other sites. We do not choose which advertisements appear.

We do not load advertising at all in the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. Serving advertisements there requires a Google-certified consent management platform, and until we have one in place, the advertising script is not loaded for visitors in those regions.

You can turn off personalised advertising in Google’s ad settings. For how to stop third-party vendors using cookies, see Advertising – Policies and Terms. Advertising slots are labelled as advertising so they are not mistaken for our own writing or for hotel information.

You can also refuse cookies in your browser settings. Refusing them does not stop you reading anything here.

4. Connections to other services

As the site stands, viewing a page can reach out to five places.

  • Embedded Instagram posts
When the Instagram section of a hotel page comes near the screen, we connect to Instagram (Meta Platforms, Inc.) to load the posts. Nothing is requested unless you scroll that far. Once loaded, Meta’s privacy policy applies.
  • Analytics
Every page connects to Google Tag Manager (googletagmanager.com), subject to the consent described in section 2.
  • Embedded YouTube videos
Showing a video on a hotel page connects to YouTube. We use the youtube-nocookie.com domain, which records no viewing history before playback, but once you play a video Google’s privacy policy applies.
  • Maps
Hotel and area pages load map images from OpenStreetMap (tile.openstreetmap.org). The map only loads once you scroll it into view, so nothing is requested if you do not.
  • Links to booking sites and sources
Once you follow a link, the privacy policy of that site applies.

Web fonts are bundled into this site at build time and served from here, so displaying a page does not fetch fonts from anywhere else. The external APIs we query for hotel information and stay reports are all called from our own servers; nothing about you is sent to them.

5. Disclosure to third parties

We do not provide information we have collected to third parties without consent, except where the law requires it.

6. What we publish about others

For stay reports, review articles and videos published on the web, we list the title, the publisher, the author, the date and the URL, together with the categories we assign ourselves. We do not reproduce the body of an article.

Where a public figure is concerned, we handle only what they or a publication have made public, with the source attached. We do not infer where someone has stayed, or make any other guess that would intrude on privacy.

To ask for a correction or a removal, write to info@barrel-connect.jp.

7. Disclaimer

Prices on this site are reference rates retrieved from the named service on the date stated, in Japanese yen. They are not live rates. Check the booking site for the actual rate and availability.

A link to another site is not a guarantee of what is on it. We cannot accept liability for loss arising from use of this site.

8. Revisions

We revise this policy as needed. If how we handle information changes — by adding an analytics tool, for instance — we update this page and record the date of the revision.
