About this hotel
A ryokan at Myoken Onsen in Kirishima, about 15 minutes by car from Kagoshima Airport and from the Mizobe-Kagoshima-Kuko interchange. Its buildings are thatched farmhouses moved to the site, with sunken hearths, and it serves food made with vegetables from its own garden. It stands in the hills along the Amori River and holds two Michelin Keys in the 2026 selection. It keeps its room count small.
Who it suits
Suits a stay immersed in old country life in the hills, with thatched farmhouses, a sunken hearth and vegetables from the inn’s garden. Being close to Kagoshima Airport, you can settle in from the day you arrive.

①Hotel Features A hot spring inn in Myoken Onsen along the Amagurikawa River in Kirishima City. Along with Ishiharaso on the opposite bank of the Amagurikawa River, it is one of Kagoshima's top-class hot spring inns. The hot spring water quality is superb, leaving your body warm for hours. They own farmland and serve homemade pesticide-free vegetables. Two chickens roam freely within the inn grounds, serving as mascots. ② Food Review ◆ Dinner ◎ Assorted Sashimi Sashimi platter featuring silverside fish, local chicken thigh, and breast. The silverside was utterly fresh with no fishy odor. The chicken sashimi was delicious, especially the thigh meat where you could savor the rich chicken flavor with each bite. ◎ Homegrown Salad The fresh, organic vegetables were incredibly tasty. The salad itself felt like a feast. ◎ Local Chicken Hot Pot Local chicken simmered for 3 hours creates a broth bursting with its rich flavor. First, savor the broth alone, letting the chicken's deliciousness permeate your body. The chicken meat is cooked so tender it falls off the bone with chopsticks. Potato starch dumplings add a fluffy texture and pair wonderfully with the broth. ◎ Miso-Glazed Grilled Chicken, Pork, and Vegetables Chicken, pork, and vegetables are grilled using Kagoshima barley miso. The unique sweetness of barley miso enhances the ingredients beautifully. It pairs exceptionally well with pork, eggplant, lotus root, and deep-fried tofu. ◎ Kagoshima Black Wagyu Beef Even Kobe beef calves are often raised in Kagoshima, making Kagoshima beef renowned for its quality. Moreover, the grilling technique is superb—the meat is tender without a hint of toughness yet retains perfect elasticity, maximizing its rich flavor. ◎ Country-Style Soba Noodles Thick, short noodles unique to Kagoshima's country-style soba. They pair wonderfully with the sweet broth. ◆Breakfast ◎ Salt-Grilled Mackerel and Fried Egg In the old-fashioned kitchen just before the dining hall, you can choose from horse mackerel, sardines, mackerel, or sea bream, grilled over charcoal. For the egg, you can choose between a fried egg, rolled omelet, or egg soup. This interaction before the meal heightens the anticipation for breakfast. ◎Sweet Potato Rice and Brown Rice Both white and brown rice are essential for seconds with the side dishes. The fluffy sweet potato is delicious.
Read the full review on Google MapsAbsolutely loved our stay here. What a stunning place, like being transported back in time. So peaceful and beautiful with the backdrop of waterfalls and nature. The service was outstanding, the staff went out of their way to make the experience special. Our room (or house to be more precise) was incredible, dining room on the ground floor, enormous living room, our own private mineral onsen bath on the first floor right in front of the balcony looking out onto the river. Stunning! They also offered some fabulous amenities. After dinner they offer shochu by the outdoor fireplace. What an incredibly romantic setting, listening to the fire crackling. Highly recommend staying here. It’s also a Relais Chateau property.
Read the full review on Google MapsRecommend to stay 2 nights instead of just 1 night for the best experience!! The ambiance there is more `country' and `farm house' than high end or luxurious. So don't expect server wore kimono serving you : ) We stayed in `Keyaki' (24 m2) : the room is big and love attached onsen, which is filled with pure hot spring water (I can see the minerals) Service is excellent as the property has partnership with `Seven Star Kyushu'. The food and beverage was good and very fresh for the first night because the property uses all vegetables and chicken from their own farm. After the staff got more comfortable serving us, the second night was even more prefect!! They arrange sabu sabu TRIO (Kagoshima beef, pork and chicken) for us. This made our stay very unforgettable!
