Overview

About this hotel

A resort near the top of a hill in Kirishima, Kagoshima, where only five villas with their own hot-spring baths stand far apart from one another. Three are for overnight stays: Tenku, the largest on the property; Akanesasu Oka, built to face the sunset; and Rinu no Mori, wrapped in forest. The other two are for day use only. Every villa has an open-air bath looking out over the landscape. It was opened in 2004 by Tateo Tajima, who founded Gajoen at Myoken Onsen.

Who it suits

A place to stay in order to do nothing, with no sign of the next villa anywhere. Meals centre on vegetables grown in the resort's own terraced fields. With only three overnight villas, rooms are hard to get, so plan the trip around the dates the resort can offer. Despite the setting, it is only about 15 minutes by car from Kagoshima Airport.

A truly unforgettable stay at Tenku no Mori. The peaceful atmosphere, beautiful nature, and private villa experience were beyond amazing. Everything felt thoughtfully designed and deeply relaxing. Special thanks to Mr Yap san for his excellent hospitality and attentive service throughout our stay. He made us feel comfortable and genuinely welcomed from the moment we arrived. If possible, we would definitely love to have Mr Yap San assist us again on our next visit. His service truly made a difference in our experience. For anyone planning to stay here, we highly recommend having Mr Yap san as your personal host and service concierge. One of the most unique and beautiful resort experiences we’ve ever had in Japan.🥰✨️✨️

This was the most luxurious resort we stayed in Japan. Although it was expensive, it was well worth it. A huge thank you to our butler from Malaysia, ヤップsan, he was incredibly professional, attentive, and kind! He always knew what we needed in advance. We will definitely come back, and we hope to meet ヤップsan again!
