Overview

About this hotel

A hotel on the Sukumo river, beyond Hakone-Yumoto. Every room has an open-air hot spring bath on its terrace, fed by the hotel’s own source. Inside are two communal bathhouses and four private baths, each done differently.

Who it suits

The kind of place where the bath on your terrace and the baths inside are the whole stay. It is close to Hakone-Yumoto Station, so little of the day goes on getting there. If you mean to use the communal and private baths as well, give yourself dates long enough to stretch from check-in to check-out.

An amazing and relaxing stay at a top class countryside retreat. From the moment we arrived the service excelled: attentive, calming and helpful. The room was out of this world (premium with private bath). It felt traditionally Japanese in design which was lovely. The private bath setting was amazing overlooking the woods and the room itself was spacious and beautifully appointed and so peaceful. The food was exceptional. Amazing quality and a wide range of traditional Japanes cuisine combined with more western styles. There were 7-8 course meal at both breakfast and dinner which was a lot, but it was delicious. We weren’t expecting small, private dining rooms but these added to the very private nature of our stay. There were free dessert and drinks after dinner which rounded off the evening’s perfectly. Overall one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. A truly calm and relaxing stay made so enjoyable by the gracious and attentive staff.

A very premium hotel, very private you don’t get to see a lot of people around in the hotel. Service is excellent. Onsen in the room is great. They have shuttle bus between hotel and the Hakone station! Will definitely recommend this hotel!!:)

A Masterclass in Relaxation. Our stay at Odakyu Hotel Hatsuhana was nothing short of spectacular. Nestled in the tranquil mountains of Okuyumoto alongside the Sukumo River, this luxury modern ryokan perfectly blends traditional Japanese hospitality with ultra-sleek, contemporary comfort. It is an absolute sanctuary. Every single room features its own private, open-air hot spring bath sourced from the hotel's pure alkaline springs. Soaking on our private terrace while looking out over the lush, green slopes of Mount Yusaka was pure bliss.Beyond the room, the communal onsens are stunningly designed, and they offer four distinct, beautifully themed private rental baths. The water left out skin feeling incredibly soft—it truly lives up to its reputation as a "spring of beauty." The multi-course dining experience was a work of art. Every dish was meticulously crafted using fresh, hyper-seasonal ingredients, beautifully presented on stunning tableware, and served in an intimate, private dining room. The staff were incredibly attentive, warm, and thoughtful without ever being intrusive. The hotel’s famous "women-friendly" design shines through in the premium skincare amenities, cozy loungewear, and overall peaceful atmosphere. Also, take advantage of the convenient shuttle bus from Hakone-Yumoto station to make your arrival entirely stress-free, If you are looking for a luxurious, peaceful getaway to rejuvenate your mind and body in Hakone, look no further. My wife and I cannot wait to return.
