Overview

About this hotel

A hotel facing Hibiya Park and the Imperial Palace Outer Garden, opened in 1890 and one of Tokyo’s representative classic hotels. It is a three-minute walk from Hibiya subway station and five minutes from Ginza Station and JR Yurakucho Station, so both Ginza and Marunouchi are within walking distance. It holds four stars in the Forbes Travel Guide 2026. The main building is due to be rebuilt; the current one was completed in 1970.

Who it suits

Suits a stay spent walking both Ginza and Marunouchi from Hibiya Park. You get the atmosphere of one of Tokyo’s great classic hotels. The main building is due to be rebuilt, so there is limited time left to stay in the current one.

My parents and I stayed two nights in a Junior Suite, and we couldn’t ask for more. The room had a beautifully timeless, classic charm, and I could tell that every detail was delicately thought out to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The service was flawless—from housekeeping to every staff member being ready to assist with our every need. They even surprised us with a cute tray as a gift for my parents’ anniversary! The hotel is also in a very convenient location for exploring the city. I’ve stayed at more expensive hotels, but the Imperial Hotel is by far the best in terms of attention to detail and hospitality. I’ll definitely stay at the Imperial Hotel again when I return to Tokyo.

My wife and I had an incredible experience staying here when in Tokyo for our honeymoon. The staff and service was impeccable. Everyone went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and settled. The room was spacious and beautiful. The location right off the parks on the edge of Ginza was the best of both worlds with easy access to shopping and restaurants in Ginza, along with subways and the main roads for getting elsewhere in the city, while feeling quiet and peaceful because of the park. We would highly recommend staying here if you plan to visit Tokyo.

We had a wonderful stay at the Imperial Hotel Tokyo and were incredibly impressed by the kindness and exceptional service from the entire team. Towards the end of our stay, my boyfriend became very unwell. Being so far from home was an incredibly stressful experience, but the hotel staff were exceptionally kind, understanding and accommodating throughout. From the Duty Manager to the room service and housekeeping teams, everyone was so efficient and thoughtful, bringing us water, clean towels and food whenever we needed it. Their kindness and support made a very difficult situation much easier for us. The location is fantastic, the rooms are spacious given the central location, and the views from the rooms are great. Thank you to the entire Imperial Hotel team for your kindness and hospitality. We would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to our friends and family.
