Overview

About this hotel

A rebuilding of the Hotel Okura, which first opened in 1962, in Toranomon. It is split in two: the low-rise Heritage Wing and the high-rise Prestige Tower. The lobby of the old main building has been preserved and recreated, down to the lantern-shaped lights and the arrangement of tables that people came to photograph.

Who it suits

Which wing you book changes the stay entirely. Take the Heritage Wing if you are here for the architecture and the quiet, the Prestige Tower for the views and the run of the hotel's facilities. Embassies and museums sit close by, so it also works as a base for moving around central Tokyo.

What this place is like

Checked against the hotel’s own site. Anything we could not confirm is left out — that does not mean it is not there.

Rooms: the two wings are different places

Every room in the Heritage Wing is a junior suite or a suite. The Heritage Rooms are twins or kings of 60 to 63 sqm, each with a private steam sauna and a jetted bath. Some have a balcony onto the Okura garden at 60 sqm. In the Prestige Tower there are Club Rooms with lounge access (48 sqm, twin or king) and corner Club Corner rooms (56 sqm, twin).

From the editors

It comes down to this: the Heritage Wing if you plan to spend long hours in the room, a Club Room in the Prestige Tower if you plan to use the lounge and keep moving.

I don’t usually write hotel reviews, but we just had one of the best experiences staying in the beautifully designed Heritage Wing for our trip. Every second was truly flawless. The attention to detail. Cleanliness. The staff. The spa. The location. Can’t wait to come back again! Definitely order the french toast a la carte at the Orchid breakfast - shockingly delicious!!

My 7-day stay at The Okura Tokyo was an absolute dream, and I couldn't have been more satisfied. The breakfast buffet was wonderful—always warm, delicious, and featuring an amazing variety of thoughtfully curated options. The room condition was pristine; it was spotlessly cleaned every single day, making it such a comforting space to return to and get a great night's sleep. I also thoroughly enjoyed the top-notch amenities, including the pool, sauna, and gym, which were all excellently maintained. What truly sets this hotel apart, though, is the staff. You can deeply feel their dedication, providing flawless, attentive service behind the scenes. It is truly an exceptional hotel.

This place is out of the world, really. Best of the best in Tokyo. Sensational breakfast, a bar and restaurant on floor 41 that will blow anyone’s mind. Spacious rooms with breathtaking views of the city skyline. Absolute cleanliness that is next level. And the most professional and polite staff, who even exceed the highest Japanese standard of being super nice to everyone. If there’s only one hotel where someone gets to spend big (like REALLY big), this should be. Amazing.
