Overview

About this hotel

The first hotel under Aman’s sister brand, in the Azabudai Hills development. With a large wellness floor and a run of restaurants, it aims at being a place where people gather — the opposite of the guarded quiet at Aman Tokyo.

Who it suits

Suits a stay booked for the sheer amount of gym and spa. There are several places to eat inside, so dinner need not take you out. It also works as a base if you plan to walk the redeveloped district around it.

Janu Tokyo delivered one of the most memorable luxury-hotel experiences our family has had anywhere in the world. The property is beautiful, sophisticated and exceptionally well designed, but what truly distinguishes Janu is its extraordinary service. Breakfast was a highlight of every day. The quality, variety and presentation were outstanding, and the calm, polished service transformed breakfast into an experience rather than simply another hotel meal. The wellness center is equally remarkable—among the finest urban wellness facilities we have encountered. The pool is spectacular, beautifully designed and immaculately maintained. The entire wellness environment feels peaceful and restorative, with attentive service that elevates the experience even further. Above everything else, Janu’s people deserve recognition. Elle and MJ were exceptional and represented the very best of genuine hospitality. Their warmth, attentiveness, professionalism and sincere desire to help made our family feel genuinely cared for rather than merely accommodated. They anticipated our needs, handled everything graciously and left a lasting impression on all of us. We have stayed at outstanding luxury hotels around the world, and the service at Janu Tokyo belongs among the very best we have experienced. Beautiful facilities can be created, but this level of hospitality comes from remarkable people. Elle, MJ and the entire Janu team made our stay truly special. Janu Tokyo has earned our strongest possible recommendation, and we will absolutely return.

Here is the updated English version, including the praise for their prompt and proactive email assistance before your arrival: Dear Janu Tokyo, This was my first time staying at your hotel, and I have finally found a hotel even more beautiful than my previous favorite, the Mandarin Oriental. Before my stay, I reached out via email with a few questions, and your team replied very quickly while proactively helping me resolve everything. My experience today was equally exceptional—my guide, SAKI-san, provided extremely detailed introductions and wonderful service, which really makes me consider making your hotel my top choice when visiting Tokyo in the future. The only minor drawback is that it is quite a long walk from the subway station. However, this in no way diminishes my desire to stay here again, because the rooms are spacious and the room layout is wonderfully designed. In particular, Misaki-san’s gentle demeanor, excellent service, and thorough explanations were truly impressive. I visit Tokyo 5 to 6 times a year, staying 4 to 5 days each time, and about 30% to 40% of the time I stay at the Mandarin Oriental. Today, however, I shared in a Taiwanese doctors' group chat that I have finally found a hotel even better than the Mandarin Oriental, and that everyone should definitely take the opportunity to stay here when they visit Tokyo. Because the experience was simply too wonderful, I have also shared this glowing review on Google Maps. Thank you for such an amazing stay! The breakfast was truly exceptional. Before coming here, I considered Mandarin Oriental and Shangri-La to serve the best breakfasts in Tokyo, and in my doctor group chat in Taiwan, I gave both hotels 100 points. However, after having breakfast at your hotel today, I can only give it 120 points—beyond a perfect score. That said, as I mentioned to the restaurant manager, Mr. Kazuki, this morning, highly rated breakfast spots like Mandarin Oriental, Shangri-La, and the Tokyo Station Hotel only offer breakfast to registered guests, and non-residents are not allowed to dine. Given the quality of your hotel's breakfast, I rate it even higher than those three. Because of this, if your occupancy is high, you might want to consider limiting breakfast service to overnight guests only. Many of my colleagues working here in Tokyo have heard my recommendations and are eager to try this amazing breakfast, and I worry it might become overly crowded. Today, a real estate representative came to see me by taxi, but the driver couldn't find the hotel's parking area and stopped outside, only sending me a street view photo. I was very stressed and confused as to where the taxi was parked. Fortunately, Misaki-san was at the front desk; when I showed her the photo, she immediately guided me to where the taxi was parked, which was an enormous help. Thanks to her, my schedule for the day went smoothly and on time. Originally, I was planning to stay at The Capitol Hotel Tokyu and Takanawa Hanakohro this October, but every single experience here has been so wonderful that I feel I must change my plans and book a stay at your hotel for at least one more day.

We had a wonderful stay at Janu Tokyo and would absolutely come back. I was surprised by some of the lower reviews because our experience was excellent overall. The hotel is beautiful—everything feels new, peaceful, and well maintained. We loved the location in Azabudai Hills, especially the greenery, which was great while traveling with young children, and our room was lovely. One of the highlights for me was the wellness facilities. They’re absolutely beautiful, and the pool is large with lots of lounging areas. I did a few personal training sessions during our stay and also really enjoyed them. What really made the stay special, though, was the staff. During our visit we had a health issue with our infant, and Philippe, the manager on duty that morning, personally came to our room (at 7am!) to help us arrange a doctor’s appointment for our infant. That level of care meant a lot to us during a stressful moment, and we feel very grateful. Fred at Janu Grill also made breakfast a pleasure every morning with his warmth and friendliness. The two areas that I think need improvement are the laundry service, as our clothes weren’t pressed particularly well, and the coordination around our airport transportation. There was a mix-up between the reservations team and the concierge that made for a frustrating end to an otherwise excellent stay. Overall, however, we had a genuinely wonderful experience. The hotel is beautiful, the staff are exceptional, and we would happily stay here again on our next visit. This was our first experience with the Aman/Janu family of hotels, and it certainly won’t be our last—we’re already looking forward to exploring more of their properties in the future.
