Overview

About this hotel

A Japanese-style auberge at Sengokuhara in Hakone, serving kaiseki that combines ingredients from Hokkaido and Hakone. It is about 40 minutes by bus from Hakone-Yumoto Station, or about two hours by highway bus from Shinjuku, one minute on foot from the Senkyoro-mae stop. Sengokuhara is a high plateau of pampas grass and museums, and the Pola Museum and the Glass Forest museum are easy to reach by car. It keeps its room count small.

Who it suits

Suits a Sengokuhara stay built around kaiseki made with ingredients from Hokkaido and Hakone. With few rooms, it is quiet, and it pairs easily with visiting the area’s museums.

Absolutely incredible stay here! The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the food was exceptional and having the private onsen was a lovely added extra. A really gorgeous way to experience the Japanese culture. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!

The room was amazing! We had 2 private onsen s on our, one outside and the other indoors. Drinks came with the room and dinner and breakfast were served in a private room. Unfortunately, I was sick during our stay so can’t really say anything about the food. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our experience here! Wish we would’ve booked for 2 nights. One night was not enough! Would recommend this ryokan!

One of my favorite hotels ever. Wonderful blend between traditional Japanese styling and modern conveniences. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and we felt their genuine kindness with every interaction. The meals were exquisite and extensive. Very fresh and lots of variety which we loved. Overall, our trip to Hakone was excellent and we will certainly be coming back to Kita No Kaze Saryo to stay in the same room and experience all of this over again❤️🙏🏽
