Overview

About this hotel

An independent hotel facing the moat of the Imperial Palace. What sets it apart is that the water and greenery of Wadakura moat are in view directly from the rooms, some of which have balconies. The pastry shop and the bar inside draw people from the neighbourhood as much as guests.

Who it suits

A stay where the view out of the window is the reason you came. It is walking distance from Tokyo Station, so it works for an extra night after business and for an anniversary alike. The moat looks different in cherry blossom season, so stay reports that say when the writer visited are the useful ones.

Our stay at the Palace Hotel Tokyo was wonderful, but what truly stood out was the incredible level of service from the concierge team. From the time we were in Tokyo through even after we returned home to the United States, they went above and beyond to help us. Most recently, my son wanted a shirt from a Japanese store that does not ship to the U.S. I reached out to the concierge, and they graciously purchased the shirt for us and arranged to have it shipped to our home. That kind of service is rare. They were always professional, kind, responsive, and genuinely willing to help with anything we needed. It made our time in Tokyo even more special and is one of the reasons we would absolutely stay at the Palace Hotel again. Thank you to the entire concierge team for taking such wonderful care of us. You truly represent Japanese hospitality at its best.

This hotel is truly exceptional on every level. What sets it apart is the chic, understated elegance of its decor (neither too greige nor too flashy) and the unparalleled service mindset. The palace hotel is easily for me, one of the top 3 hotels in the world. At the micro level, they've paid attention to everything from thoughtful concierge and turn down servicing to comfortable beds and water pressure unlike anywhere on earth! Only change I'd request they make is to not charge for steam room access. Everything else is perfection.

Visiting from NYC with our two college-age kids. Although my wife and I had been to Japan several times, this was our kids' first trip. Our first stop was Tokyo, and we decided to stay at the Palace Hotel again. It was as wonderful as we remembered from our stay in 2018—we loved the clean, pristine feel of the hotel. We had signed up for the Leaders Club membership, and the two room upgrades with a fantastic view was a lovely touch. The complimentary breakfast was sublime; having breakfast every morning in the outdoor garden was a highlight of our day. The concierge service, as expected, was extremely professional. We ended up spending five nights at the Palace and would highly recommend it!
