Overview

About this hotel

A resort spread across the tip of Cape Busena, known as the site of the 2000 Okinawa Summit. The whole cape is the grounds, which is how it comes to have both a beach and an underwater observatory.

Who it suits

Laid out for a long stay with family. Pools, beach and activities are all inside the grounds, which suits a trip with children where you want to keep the driving to a minimum.

What this place is like

Checked against the hotel’s own site. Anything we could not confirm is left out — that does not mean it is not there.

Pools: an indoor pool all year with a 40 cm children’s pool; outdoor pools from April

The indoor pool (South Tower, ground floor, 1.4 m deep) is open all year and has a children’s pool 40 cm deep beside it. There are two outdoor pools: the upper one is open from April to October and the lower one, which has a water slide, from April to November. There is no children’s pool outdoors. The pools are for staying guests only, and hours change with the season.

The only good thing about this place is the location. It sits on a beautiful peninsula. That’s it! They were late checking me in, passed me around through three employees before finally assigning me to the Delux Room with no view of the ocean (there is an extra $100 charge for that). The rooms are not very clean, there is no milk available to add to your coffee. If you eat at one of the extremely overpriced restaurants ($38 for a sandwich off season) they will not allow you to box the food to take it to the room while charging you for the whole thing. Their breakfast buffet gave me the runs within 1/2 hour. They charge for tickets to go down the underwater viewing tower. Lots of rules, they went over what I can or cannot wear out in the facility. No music, the whole place is basically lifeless. I have been to Xcaret in Mexico many times, it is less expensive and provides much better service and activities.

Beautiful setting but mixed views on this holiday. Vibes are mainly Japanese and Chinese families with a few random Europeans. Beach and sunset views are stunning. Rooms are great. Other people have written comments about service but for non-japanese visitors, you do need to speak a bit of Japanese. Most staff do not speak English as you'd expect on a tropical island in the East China Sea. We travelled in June 2026 so maybe because of off season lots of bars were closed and it wasn't straightforward to get drinks by the pool. Overall nice setting and very relaxing by the pool or beach, but not sure if I'd recommend.

8 great nights in The Busena Terrace ! Leaving tomorrow after an 8 night stay, as the last part of our 3 week Japan trip during which we stayed in various hotels in various cities. This hotel is really great value for money and although opened in 1997, nearly 30 years ago, is in real great shape, thanks to excellent general maintenance. We stayed in room 946, a superior ocean front, high floor. The well designed room had a great bathroom, with bath and shower. It also had a handy coffee/tea station with a Nespresso machine with daily refills. Complimentary water is also provided on a daily base. The bed was very comfy and large. You also have a relax seat along with a small sofa and table. Big tv with access to Netflix and others. The room had a terrace with another small sofa, a table and another chair. The rooms looks out over the whole bay and you can watch sunsets from your balcony. Our booking included buffet breakfast and the choice was huge, Asian and western style. Inside and outside seating with seaview is available. As we had rented a car, we went out for dinner most of the days (a lot of choice just 5-10’ away) and we just snacked during lunch. Various restaurants are available on site. We also booked parking during our stay (2.000 ¥ / day) which comes with included valet parking and unlimited in&out. As we were staying for a longer period vs average guests, the hotel offered us a laundry voucher and also offered a couple days of free parking. Both commercial gestures were greatly appreciated. What makes this place truly exceptional, is the staff, from the very warm welcome to the absolute dedication to customer satisfaction through Kaizen. We have never felt as pampered as in this specific hotel. After reading some less positive comments, allow me to mention that our review is based on our very own personal perception, with a 50% occupancy with mainly Japanese guests from 28/05 till 05/06. The only things that we find worth mentioning that could be improved to even more enhance the guest experience, and which we did also read in other reviews, are following : - wifi : free but not very stable everywhere (no biggie as we had Japanese Esims.) - pools : hours too limited (10h-17h) and closed 1h at noon - beach : hours too limited also closes at 17h00 - pool bar : no glass used for drinks, even when drinking them sitting in the bar area and the pool being closed. We prefer our gin/tonic in real glasses, not plastic. We can only recommend this great hotel ! PS : we also had typhon 6 (Jengmi) pass by, but that did not influence our review as even that was greatly managed by the hotel.
