Overview

About this hotel

On the upper floors of Toranomon Hills Business Tower. A lobby planted heavily with greenery and a terrace opening towards Tokyo Tower are what it is known for. The bar and the restaurants draw plenty of people who are not staying.

Who it suits

Less a quiet stay than one where the sociable air of the place is part of what you came for. Rooms facing Tokyo Tower come up again and again in stay reports. It suits an itinerary built around going out at night.

What this place is like

Checked against the hotel’s own site. Anything we could not confirm is left out — that does not mean it is not there.

Rooms: only 15 have a terrace

Of 206 rooms, 22 are suites. Above the 31st floor, 15 rooms have a furnished terrace averaging 26 sqm, three of them suites. The penthouse is 144 sqm with a 180-degree view of the city. Every room looks out on a skyline that takes in Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Bay.

From the editors

Fifteen rooms out of 206 have a terrace. If being able to step outside matters — for an anniversary, say — book well ahead.

Food: a restaurant with an outdoor terrace

The signature restaurant is by chef partner Tom Aikens and seats up to 178 including private dining. In the warmer months a 74-seat outdoor terrace restaurant and bar opens. The hotel calls it outdoor dining with nothing else like it at this height.

I have always been staying in Ginza area for my Tokyo trips. This trip, I stayed four nights at The Tokyo EDITION, Toranomon in October and it was the perfect retreat after long days out. lobby is stunning – all warm wood and lush greenery – and the views towards Tokyo Tower never got old, especially at night. Room was spacious by Tokyo standards, beautifully designed and very quiet, with a comfortable bed and a great bathroom. Easy train connections for getting around from Kamiyacho station. Would happily stay again and recommend it to families and couples alike who want design, comfort and great service in Tokyo. *** shout to Ms Chin from the front desk, she was just simple awesome.****

Pretty much what you’d expect from an EDITION property: sleek, minimalist, a little cold. It didn’t translate much of a Japan feel, which was a bit of a miss for me. That said, it works well for business travel, and the night vibe in the lobby and bar areas is genuinely good. A few notes: • Layout across floors isn’t great. Long walks to get to a lot of the rooms. • Neighborhood is good, easy access and a solid area to be based in. • Staff were professional throughout • Breakfast buffet was the weakest compared to similar properties in Japan, though the à la carte menu had some decent options to fall back on. • Pool is small and reservation only, so plan ahead if that matters to you. Solid, reliable, nothing that blew me away. Good for a business trip. Wouldn’t pick it for family travel, and wouldn’t pick it if you’re looking for a distinctly Tokyo feel.

Staying here offers an impeccably balanced urban retreat characterized by warm wood tones, clean lines, and generous natural light. The room features wide natural oak flooring, elegant slatted wood screens, and a serene neutral palette that creates an open, tranquil atmosphere. In the evening, enjoying a juicy Wagyu burger for a simple yet deeply satisfying dinner with an unobstructed, glowing view of Tokyo Tower set an unforgettable mood. Thanks to the ultra-comfortable bed dressed, I slept exceptionally well and woke up fully recharged. Breakfast the next morning was another highlight, featuring a beautifully crafted, velvety truffle omelette paired with stunning high-floor skyline views. With its deep soaking tub, bath products, and sophisticated ambiance, the hotel delivers a world-class getaway high above the vibrant Toranomon district😍
