A hotel in the temple town in front of Nishi Honganji, the first Dusit Thani in Japan, opened in September 2023. It is about twelve minutes on foot from the central exit of JR Kyoto Station, with Nishi Honganji and Higashi Honganji within walking distance. It holds four stars in the Forbes Travel Guide 2026 and one Michelin Key in the 2026 selection, and has several restaurants including a Thai restaurant.

    The Dusit was in an ideal location but for the price and the amount of awards the hotel has the room and service left a lot to be desired. The room was small and lacking light compared to what I booked. The toilet wasn’t heated and when I inquired about it nothing was done. I was looking forward to this stay but unfortunately will not be back.

    Stayed here for our honeymoon in Kyoto. My favorite hotel experience in a long time. Staff was absolutely fantastic (particularly Massa, our favorite staff member in the front lobby!) The rooms were exquisite and bed was so comfortable. Spa and pool was fantastic. Restaurant Kati had a wide variety of food for breakfast and dinner. Loved our experience so much we joked that we’re naming our kids Dusit and Thani🤣 thank you for the best stay!!!

    This was my second stay at Dusit Thani Kyoto, and once again, the experience was absolutely exceptional! The staff’s attention to detail is truly unmatched, and their incredible service and warm attitude made me feel so genuinely welcome from start to finish. As an example of their next-level care, when a restaurant I wanted to visit only accepted bookings via Tabelog, the team remembered to follow up and remind me to book weeks later when the reservation window finally opened. They also made booking train tickets entirely stress-free, guiding me through the whole process with so much patience and kindness. The rooms are brand-new, clean, and beautifully spacious. The location is also highly central and close to Kyoto Station, making it incredibly easy to get anywhere. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and will definitely be back!
