We absolutely loved our stay here! It is a beautiful boutique hotel in a peaceful area, while also conveniently located to all the best parts of Kyoto and Gion including Yasaka-dori street and the shops & restaurants. We were also able to walk to the river, so many temples & shrines, and also the downtown shopping area. We loved the natural light and design of the room. However, what made our stay so special was the warmth and genuine kindness from the staff member that checked us in. She made us feel so welcomed in Japan - we loved Kyoto and her hospitality and those at the hotel that we extended our stay an extra night which she was able to help us with. It was so good to come back to our peaceful hotel after long days of sight seeing and exploring.

Hotel The Celestine Kyoto Gion — 5 Stars Our first visit to Japan has been an unforgettable experience, made even more special by our stay at Hotel The Celestine Kyoto Gion. The hotel itself is beautiful, serene, and perfectly situated, but what truly set our stay apart was the extraordinary hospitality. Throughout our trip, we have been blown away by how friendly, polite, and genuinely welcoming the Japanese people are. This was on full display when we had a minor issue with the TV in our room—the staff handled it swiftly, professionally, and with such warmth and care. Every interaction with the team was delightful and made us feel so well taken care of. Thank you to all the wonderful staff for making our first journey to Japan so memorable. We leave with deep love and gratitude! With warmest regards, Lee & Lisa (Visiting from Grindelwald, Tasmania)

Probably the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed at, not because it’s the most expensive or necessarily the fanciest, but every detail made my stay. absolutely incredible. The service was the best I’ve ever had in my life. From the moment you walk in the door, they go above and beyond to make you comfortable and relaxed. The breakfast was amazing with lots of Japanese options I had never tried before and the Onsen was so relaxing. I saw some reviews complain about location. But to Me, It is absolutely perfect. It’s not right in the middle of the shopping district. But it’s where all the more beautiful wooden houses are and some of the more authentic tucked away gems for restaurants. If you want to go to the main shopping District, it’s an easy 10 minute walk or bus ride. If you are thinking about this place, definitely do it! I will surely be back the next time I visit Kyoto.
