A Wonderful New Addition to Tokyo The new JW Marriott Tokyo is a fantastic addition to the city’s luxury hotel scene. Newly built in 2025, the hotel feels fresh, elegant and beautifully designed, with modern rooms offering stunning views of Tokyo. The facilities are excellent, particularly the well equipped gym, which is perfect for keeping up with a workout while travelling. The indoor pool is also a good size and a lovely place to relax after a busy day in the city. What really makes the experience special, however, is the staff. Everyone we encountered was friendly, attentive and genuinely welcoming, with the level of service you would expect from JW Marriott. A beautiful new hotel with excellent facilities, great views and outstanding service. Definitely a place I would happily return to on my next visit to Tokyo.

Stayed here twice in April 2026. Overall, great stay and received comp upgrade both times to a spacious 1 bedroom, 1.5 bath suite. Lounge has good offerings. They allowed me to eat at the restaurant for breakfast which was AMAZING. Apparently they normally don’t allow that (at least not complimentary) —- was kind of surprised cause normally as an ambassador elite, I get the option of breakfast at the restaurant or lounge at any JW. A couple of the front desk gals (likely similar age to me) absolutely suck. Unfortunately this is not the first time I’ve been treated less than stellar by employees who seem taken aback by someone of my age having ambassador elite status lol. We’re staying here again in November and hoping for an equally great stay! Stay tuned to find out…

Note: Google Maps provides directions via public transportation assuming you exit the hotel on the first floor main exit. The hotel has a second exit on the second floor that opens straight to the Takanawa Gateway area which is about 100m away from the Takanawa Gateway Station. This saves about 10-15 min of transit time because you don’t have to walk to Shinagawa Station. Overall, the hotel is nice and the rooms are clean and modern but for a high end place, I was a little underwhelmed. The facilities are nice and given that this hotel was less than a year old, it really felt new. I’ve stayed at many JWs and at each one there is often a unique flare to them that expresses the location. This hotel in Tokyo missed that I didn’t get a sense of much of Japan so it felt like I was at any JW in the US. The gym is small to moderate in size and the way the hotel is designed, you have to go to the 30th floor where the lobby is before you can transfer to another elevator that takes you to the guest room floors located between 24-29. A little cumbersome. Staff very nice and friendly. The executive lounge has a great view of the bay and the food choices were good.
