Overview

About this hotel

The first W in Japan, on Midosuji, the avenue that runs through the middle of Osaka. Tadao Ando designed the exterior as a black rectangular block; inside, the hotel turns the other way and uses colour and light hard. It points somewhere different from the other luxury hotels in this book.

Who it suits

Not a hotel you book for quiet. The bars and restaurants inside are part of what you are paying for, and the noise of them is the point. Shinsaibashi and Namba are within walking distance, which suits an itinerary built around going out at night. If you want a calm stay, this is not the one.

The W Osaka is an extremely modern hotel with modern facilities in a great location close to dontobori, 2 major malls, lots of great restaurants and close to the metro and station The gym is small but has enough equipment for an mediocre workout, pool and bathrooms are very clean but aren’t very kid friendly (you must be over 6 and must book a one hour time slot - we were 15 minutes early and they made us wait outside for 15 minutes even though the pool was completely empty :/) Breakfast was suffice however they also made us wait 12 minutes even though they weren’t serving anyone and there were empty tables. Service at the front desk was hit and miss sometimes encountering someone very helpful and friendly and sometimes not so friendly The only person who was extremely friendly was ms Songhui seo who was extremely friendly at all times. Cleaners were extremely friends and the place was spotless.

We stayed here in June 2026 for our honeymoon. Its in a great area just a short walk from the Dotonbori area which was very convenient. The staff was nice enough to upgrade our suite to a higher level floor with an amazing view because it was our honeymoon. They even gave us both free drink tickets to get a drink each at the living room bar. They also had a cute note for us in the room. We came from Tokyo and used the luggage shipping service so when we arrived, our luggage was already placed in our room which was so convenient. The one thing I will say is breakfast gets crowded early so if that’s included in your stay I would recommend going earlier to get a seat and avoid crowds. Great stay and hopefully we will be back one day!

The location was pretty good it’s like a 15 minute walk to dontobori, and like 4 minutes for the station. They have great service and the room was always clean. The continental breakfast was good and the cocktails from the bar also. I tried out the spa and everything was sanitary and didn’t smell over chlorinated which I like. For a hotel in Osaka with all the tourism and chaotic people it was definitely a vibe staying here highly recommend
