About this hotel
A hotel in the former Russian consulate on a hill in Funami-cho, Hakodate, restored and joined by a new wellness wing. The consulate was built in 1908 by Imperial Russia. All six rooms are suites, each with its own private sauna. The hotel has French cuisine at the main dining room, Byakuya, which looks down on Hakodate harbour; Sushidokoro Funami, an eight-seat counter; and a bar.
Who it suits
Suits a stay built around sleeping in a historic building and eating in-house. With only six rooms, the house stays quiet. It is about 25 minutes by car from Hakodate Airport and about 10 minutes by taxi from JR Hakodate Station, so it combines easily with sightseeing in town.

This was one of the best hotels I ever stayed in. The room is fantastic and has everything you need for a luxurious stay. We spent an entire day just in the hotel, enjoying the spa. The staff are the nicest people I have met, always helpful and attantive.
Read the full review on Google MapsThis has been one of the best experiences we had, on our Japan trip and in general. The staff were all super friendly, helpful and accommodating. Both restaurants were exceptional- the staff noticed I didn’t finish something on the first night and so on the second they asked if i would like to remove that ingredient from my dishes. We had the softest octopus we ever had. A must stay if you’re in the area. Hope to come back the next time we’ll be in Japan.
Read the full review on Google MapsWe had a fantastic experience during our stay at Hotel Biaclyn. The property is exceptional and unique - there are the renovated historic building which was the former Russian embassy and adjacent to it, a new wellness building. Rooms in both are spectacular with a very high level of details and amenities carefully considered. The view on the bay from the property is also incredible. Every person in the staff is very professional, really attentive and caring. Thank you all for the wonderful time we had. We tried the sushi restaurant where we had an amazing dinner. The breakfast was also really good, at the same level of a breakfast in a palace in Paris. This hotel was the highlight of our trip around Hokkaido. We will definitely return. We stayed at many Relais & Chateaux hotels all over the world (in the US, Central America, Europe, Japan, etc) and this was definitely the best R&C hotel we stayed at.
