A resort at Kannawa in Beppu, about 20 minutes by car from Beppu Station and about 50 minutes from Oita Airport, with a transfer by reservation. It has a hot spring and a spa, in Kannawa, the steaming district of Beppu’s jigoku. It holds one Michelin Key in the 2026 selection, has several restaurants and looks out over Beppu Bay.

Suits a stay with views over Beppu Bay, spending time in the hot spring and spa. The jigoku of Kannawa are easy to visit, and there is a transfer from the airport.

Stayed here for a whole week with some friends and honestly, we didn’t want to leave. The rooms are beautiful, the views over Beppu are insane, and we spent so much time chilling by the pool. But you HAVE to try the thermal hot springs (onsen) here. The big open-air (male and female) one is incredible with the mountain views, and we also booked the private family onsen which was amazing for our group. Food-wise, the Japanese restaurant was so delicate (do the tea pairing!), but the French restaurant completely blew us away. The Wagyu beef with the wine pairing was literally from another world. Pricey but 100% worth it.

The onsen experience was so relaxing and truly one of the best parts of our trip. The staff were kind and welcoming, and the rooms were beautiful and spotless. Definitely one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. I loved every moment and can’t wait to come back!”
