Overview

About this hotel

A hotel built around its food, in the woods at Sengokuhara in Hakone. The hot spring runs straight from the source, and the rooms face the forest. Both the water and the landscape differ from Gora, on the other side of Hakone.

Who it suits

A stay for the dinner and the hot spring. The pampas grass fields of Sengokuhara and the Pola Museum are a drive away. It works better planned as a stay spent inside the building.

Beautiful hotel! Mr Dennis Cheong provided great service. He is multi lingual and everything he arranged was top notch, from the food preference to the arrangements for breakfast, dinner and the private bath. The level of service here is what really makes the difference. It combines the warm hospitality of other east Asian countries with the precision typical of Japan. We had the room in the main building and it was amongst one of the best we have stayed in before.

Staying at the Hiramatsu was the highlight of our trip. One of very few places that I genuinely miss after leaving. The room is clean, spacious, and relaxing. The food is phenomenal; I still think about the bread. The location is actually quite convenient, a very short walk to a bus stop that can take you everywhere around Hakone. Most of all, the staff is *amazing*, especially our primary host, Dennis. He was so friendly and attentive; by the end of the trip, we were looking forward to chatting with Dennis at dinner. He made a point to speak with us in Chinese after noticing our names, which was great fun. He even made custom translated menus for us at every meal - I didn't have the heart to tell him I'm terrible at reading Chinese, but it made for a very fun memory! The other staff were also great. We would have been fine communicating in Japanese, but they tried very hard to use English for our comfort, which was very endearing. We highly recommend this resort for anyone traveling to Hakone!

I cannot say enough beautiful things about this property, the rooms and the kindness and warmth of the staff. They go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and welcome. The staff is spectacular, the property is stunning, and the rooms are beyond comfortable. Best stay. Mostly adult couples but we had our kids and they were so kind to our children and made them a special menu and dessert tray.
